About this Course

To cope with the current demands and challenges facing higher education and scientific research in Algeria, first-year undergraduate university students (L1) must adapt by developing effective study skills and move beyond the outdated learning habits acquired in secondary school. They are expected to adopt a more structured and systematic approach to develop their critical thinking and intellectual autonomy.

To achieve this goal, the Study Skills course is designed for you (L1 university students) and anyone wishing to acquire a solid foundation in learning strategies to support your transition by providing you with the essential skills and tools needed to enhance your academic performance and promote active learning strategies. Throughout the course, you will develop key methodological competencies, including strategic reading, academic synthesis and reformulation, systematic note-taking, and effective revision and memorization techniques. In addition, the course equips you with a structured approach to examination preparation by introducing strategies that help reduce anxiety and improve performance during exams. By the end of the course, your progress will be evaluated through a summative assessment aimed at measuring your exit profile and confirming your mastery of advanced study skills necessary for academic success.

At the end of this course, you will be able to develop ethical, methodological, and autonomous learning strategies needed for future academic research.

Demonstrate proficiency in basic English mechanics, including syntax, morphology, spelling, and punctuation, within an academic context.
